KuosiKioski Findings: Something Unexpected

When I see something ordinary in new surroundings it always catches my eye. For example a coathanger hanging from a tree branch in the middel of a forrest...it makes you wonder how in the world did it get there? Who put it there? Why? What´s the srory behind?

From a design point of view this is an intresting combination:  Something ordinary with an unpredictable element.

A Coathanger hanging from a tree branch.
Black high heels in the middle of a street set neatly beside.
"I´m your FLOWER,  You are welcome!" A plant in my apartment buildings corridor.

It´s funny because Helsinkis mean temperature is 5,6 celcius.

KuosiKioski Surface Inspiration: Birch bark

Birch bark has been a valuable building and crafting material since pre-historic times. In Finland it was used for example for making boxes, buckets, fishing implements, bags, shoes and roofs. And in addition to that birch bark surface texture is intresting and it´s color delicate. So for a designer it´s a source of inspiration.

KuosiKioski Landscapes: Suomussalmi, Finland

It´s just amazing how the landscape changes during the day and according to weather. It feels like nature is staging different scenes.

These photos are taken in Suomussalmi, northen Finland. This place has a special place in my heart and I try to travel there every summer. There is a little cottage with no running water or electricity, so it´s a perfect escape from the busy city life. When there is no internet or tv you have plenty of time just to obcerve nature and relax.

KuosiKioski Color Inspiration: The Blue Moment

IN-SPI-RA-TION ---> "An agency, such as a person or work of art, that moves the intellect or emotions or prompts action or invention."

Midsummer is celebrated in the middle of the finnish summer at the lightest point of the year. The days are long and in some areas the sun doesn´t set at all.

This photo is taken on Midsummer´s eve at the darkest moment of the night. We call this a Blue Moment.
